US Masters Betting 2011

by , on April 7th, 2011

We’re certainly not betting experts at LatestDiscountVouchers.co.uk, but the US Masters in Augusta is looking like it’s going to be another great competition this year with some fantastic weather forecast for the 4 days of play in the only major to be played at the same course every year.

Lee Westwood (world’s number two) was reported to have had some scary problems reaching the event this year with a report of smoke coming out of the cockpit of his private jet and an emergency landing (source: BBC News) but that’s not going to hamper Lee’s chances at all and he’ll be firing on all cylinders to try and win his first major this year.

The favourites of Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson are seasoned pro’s at Augusta and always have massive chances, despite not always being the most accurate of drivers. Although accuracy is a great asset at Augusta, it’s sometimes the ability to manufacture a shot out of trouble, and course knowledge of the lightning quick and undulating greens, that is a defining point to success.

For in-running Masters betting, and indeed all Golf betting, our recommendation this year is Bet365. They have multiple markets available, covering all aspects of the Augusta event, and are currently offering up to £200 of free bets.

If you want to put an Each Way bet on the US Masters this year, Paddypower.com are paying 1/4 odds on the first 6 places for Each Way bets (at the time of writing). This extra place should certainly not be understimated if you are looking to bet each-way and may provide some added value.

My personal bet has already been placed on the in-form pick of Phil Mickelson (EW) at 13/2 with Paddy Power, but I have a sneaky feeling that the world number one (as at April 6th 2011 on OfficialGolfWorldRanking.com), Martin Kaymer, has a good chance with very favourable odds at around 22/1.

Whatever happens this year, we’re sure it’ll be another fantastic event and our hopes are for a UK victory from the likes of Lee Westwood, Luke Donald, Graham McDowell, Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose.

Whether or not you have a wager on the event, we hope that you get to watch it as it’s going to be a great golf tournament on a spectacular course!
