Football Fixtures are out for 2013-14

Posted June 19th, 2013 by

Today has seen the release of the football fixtures for the Premier League, Football League and Scottish Leagues.

The release of these football fixtures starts the excitement up and down the UK of the build-up to the start of the season in August and the anticipation, and hope, of football fans that their teams will do as well as they can and, in many cases, exceed expectations.

Whether you’re looking for the fixtures of leading teams such as Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Everton, Liverpool or Celtic, a newly promoted team such as Crystal Palace or Watford, or another team, the 2013-14 fixtures are all available right now via this link to the BBC website and there are some fantastic games to kick-off the season this year.

For the Premiership, Manchester United and Chelsea have got perhaps got the most challenging start with 3 fixtures against their main rivals in the first 6 matches but, at that level, all the matches the teams play present a challenge. The first derby match of the season will be an interesting one, with Arsenal facing Tottenham on August 31st.

For many football fans the off-season isn’t a nice period after being treated to so much fantastic football over a 9-10 month period, with possible elements of depression for some, but it’s not long to wait now until the new football season and we wish all our readers good luck with whatever teams they follow.

If you’re interested in the latest betting odds for your team to win The Premiership, The Championship, The Scottish Premier League, or another division you can click this link to find all the latest betting offers for the companies that we list with our favourite betting company being bet365.

Posted June 18th, 2013 by

The world-renowned Royal Ascot begins today (Tuesday) and all the signs are that it’s promising to be yet another fantastic display of world-class horse racing, with the first race featuring Animal Kingdom who’s been a winner of both the Kentucky Derby and the Dubai World Cup.

With 5 days of horse racing in total, from Tuesday to Saturday, each day has a different atmosphere generally associated with it and ‘Ladies’ Day on Thursday is generally when the more extravagant and spectacular designer costumes are on display.

On each day there’s a “Feature” Race and we’ve put together a short list of these for you below.

Royal Ascot Feature Days

Day Feature Race
Tuesday June 18th St James’s Palace Stakes
Wednesday June 19th Prince of Wales’s Stakes
Thursday June 20th Gold Cup (Ladies Day)
Friday June 21st The Coronation Stakes
Saturday June 22nd The Diamond Jubilee Stakes

Royal Ascot is a truly wonderful festival, that’s relished by millions of people across the world and, following the death of the legendary trainer Sir Henry Cecil on June 11th 2013, there are sure to be some fitting tributes paid to honour his memory and his tally of 75 successes at Royal Ascot is truly remarkable without even mentioning his training of Frankel, widely acclaimed as the World’s best horse.

If you’re still interested in buying tickets to Royal Ascot, supplies are now very limited but you can purchase them via the official website here.

If you’re not interested in travelling to Ascot to watch the action live, and would like to place some bets on the races or watch Royal Ascot live streaming, you may well be interested in some of the latest betting offers that we’re displaying on our betting offers page. There are plenty of offers from leading bookmakers and Sky Bet even offer a £10 no deposit sign-up bonus that can be viewed here.

What is the FIFA Confederations Cup?

Posted June 17th, 2013 by

If you hadn’t noticed, the FIFA Confederations Cup 2013 started over the weekend and it’s a fantastic chance to watch some of the best football teams in the world play each other in advance of the 2014 World Cup.

The FIFA Confederations Cup is held every 4 years by the host nation of the next World Cup. It’s an 8 team contest with entrants from each of the six FIFA confederation championships (UEFA, CONMEBOL, CONCACAF, CAF, AFC, OFC) together with the FIFA World Cup holder and the host nation.

The 2013 Confederations Cup runs from June 15th to June 30th with teams from Brazil, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Nigeria, Spain, Tahiti and Uruguay competing. It’s a competition that is designed to test some of the stadiums involved in the World Cup and gives the hosts a fantastic opportunity for top-level competition outside of the friendlies they play in the run-up to the World Cup.

The bookmakers are fully geared up for the competition, with a massive range of markets and offers available, including live streaming and in-play betting. Top of our recommendations, with their current free bet offers for new customers and betting markets, are the websites below:

As for the team that we think will win, we’re going for Spain although it’s going to be a close-run contest as Spain and Brazil are pretty much joint-favourites at around 11/8 with Italy following closely behind.

If you’re a football fan, it’s a great opportunity to see some of the top teams battle it out at the highest level, especially given the lack of football on the TV at this time of year. Although watching Tahiti might not be at the top of your list of teams to watch, there are some great matches to watch this time around and we can highly recommend it.

Finally, if you didn’t know what the Confederations Cup was, we hope that this post has gone some way to explain what it’s all about and the importance of it to the hosts of the next World Cup in 2014.

Father’s Day, Sunday June 16th

Posted June 10th, 2013 by

If you didn’t already know, it’s Father’s Day this Sunday (June 16th) and millions of Families up and down the country will no doubt be providing their Dads with a gift, meal out, or something else to mark the occasion.

Personally, I’ll actually be playing golf all day, so won’t actually see my kids except for a brief moment before leaving in the morning. This doesn’t stop the fact that I’m a very proud Father and I’ll still be thinking of my family while I hopefully have an enjoyable day of golf.

If you haven’t already bought your Father a present, there’s plenty of choice available. Top of my list are Thorntons chocolates, with personalisation available, given that my Dad loves chocolate! But, if this isn’t for you, what about a Gift Experience or even a Home Brew kit?

We’ve put together a quick list below of some offers for websites that you can buy gifts from, but you’ll need to be quick as the date is fast approaching.

Father’s Day Discounts

Some people may think that we have too many of these extra celebratory days, such as Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, Grandparent’s Day, Valentine’s Day and more. They may well be right but, at the same time, it’s a great idea to be able to let others know how special they are from time to time. If money’s a bit tight at the moment for you, just the sending of a card or even a phone call will be enough to let your loved ones know that you’re thinking of them.

Whatever you’re doing for Father’s Day, whether it’s making your own Dad feel special or, if they’re no longer with us, maybe reflecting back on your memories, we certainly hope that the day goes well for all that are involved.
